Day 1: Arrive Lima, Peru
You will fly to Lima, Peru, where you will be met by our local representative and brought to your hotel – in the city center or just there at the airport (if flying the next morning).
Day 2: Fly to Cusco, Sacred Valley
Fly over the Peruvian Andes to the UNESCO Heritage city of Cuzco. Due to the high altitude, we’ll bring you to a hotel in the Sacred Valley, to acclimatize more easily. Along the way you can stop by Awanacancha, and see crafts and a local farm with alpacas, and also the classic Pisac Market, with local goods from all over the Sacred Valley.
Day 3: Sacred Valley Tour
Further your exploration of the Sacred Valley of the Incas — the vast valley below Machu Picchu where traditional lifestyle continues to this day. Visit the ancient Inca agricultural terraces of Moray and the still functioning salt mines of Maras.
After lunch alongside the Urubamba River, your tour ends in Ollantaytambo, a pretty village laid out in the traditional Incan format and dominated by an Inca fortress on the hills above the village.
Day 4: Train to Machu Picchu, Tour
Catch the early train to Machu Picchu passing through lovely mountain scenery. Arrive with plenty of time to begin exploring the breathtaking Incan city. Your professional, English-speaking guide will take you around this amazing site – one of the seven new man-made wonders of the world! Ancient Inca ruins that really look like an old city, surrounding by valleys with incredible views. If time remains, you might walk up to the Sun Gate, where hikers enter from the Inca Trail. Return to Cusco by train in the evening.
Option! Spend a second day at Machu Picchu to climb up the peak of Huayna Picchu…
Day 5: Cuzco
Today we’ll include a city tour of Cusco, now that you’ve adjusted to the altitude. The cathedral is amazing, as is the Q’oricancha (Temple of the Sun) and of course, Sacsayhuaman, one of the most physically impressive structures in the area. The biggest Inca stones you’ve ever seen!
Day 6: Fly to Lima, Santiago, Chile
Today you will fly to Santiago, Chile via Lima. We will meet you there and transfer you to your hotel – in the city centre or just there at the airport, depending on flight times.
Day 7: Santiago City Tour – Valparaiso – Wine Tour
Today we’ll bring you on a half-day tour of Chile’s capital city, or if you prefer – visit one of the colourful, colonial gems not far, along the coast – the artsy port city of Valparaiso … or do wine tours in one or more of Chile’s world-class vineyards.
Day 8: Fly to Easter Island
Transfer to airport, Fly to Easter Island. Arrive to the remote and mysterious island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Transfer to your hotel where you can relax and enjoy the fabulous views of this unique and special place.
Day 9: Easter Island – Rano Raraku
After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel for your full day tour of some of the most striking scenes on the island. We take you first to Rano Raraku, an extinct volcano 18 km east of Hanga Roa (the main town), and the tallest Moai at Ahu Te Pito Kura. The tour includes a visit to Anekana Beach and an outdoor BBQ.
Day 10: Easter Island Tour: Orongo and Rano Kau
Full tour of Easter Island including the stunning Rano Kau Volcano and some of the best places to see the natural vegetation of the island. Continue to the sacred village of Orongo. This dramatic spot was the site of the Birdman ceremonies. Find out all about the fascinating stories of Rapa Nui on your full day tour.
Optional Additional Day – Ahu Akivi
Dating back to 1500 AD, this is the first Ahu that was scientifically restored on the island in 1960 by William Mulloy and Gonzalo Figueroa. The 7-moai platform faces the equinoctial rising sun. According tolocal folklore, Ahu Akivi represents the seven young explorers who originally discovered the island.
Day 11: Fly to Santiago, Home
We take you to the airport for your flight back to Santiago, connecting with your international flights home.
